SMITHERS BC
VIEW FROM OUR OVERNIGHT STOP IN SMITHERS, BC, THESE ARE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF US.
After stopping sooner than expected the day before, we tried to make up time by driving a long day. We drove up to Prince George and picked up the Yellowhead Highway 16. We stopped and made dinner at a pullout on the highway and considered staying there for the night as there was no sign saying that it was not allowed. But after eating, walking the dog and relaxing for a while we felt like moving on. We drove another hour and a half to the town of Smithers, B.C. where the Smithers Mall with a Safeway store had a sign saying "free overnight RV parking." So we stopped for the night (and shopped a little at Safeway). We were even able to use free WiFi from Safeway. The photos above give you some idea of the great views we had of snow capped mountains that appeared to be right over the town.
